The Juniors played hosts to Blarney in the league opener in front of a large home crowd, on Saturday evening last. Banteer opened well, Floss raised the first green flag and points from Olivia Roche and Lisa Howard settled the home side. Blarney answered back with two goals, before Banteer's Una Twohig and Imelda Vaughan converted before the break, with Kate O Donoghue, Maire McAuliffe and Lynda Dunlea on top in defence. Karen O Keeffe was unlucky not to raised another green flag when her shot was denied by the post. Half time score Banteer 1-7 Blarney 2-2.

Banteer had the aid of the strong wind on the restart and took full advantage, Shelly Twohig continued to work hard in the middle of the field, with Aisling O Brien proving a hand full for the Blarney defence, our half back line of Vicky Withers, Gemma Cashman and Rosie Twohig dominated through out! Imelda Vaughan bagged herself two second half goals, leaving the sliotar and half of her hurley in the back of the net on one occasion. The strength of the bench prove the difference with with the introduction of Laura Murphy, Elaine O Donovan, Sarah Reilly, Lauren McGeogh and Sharon McAuliffe sealed the win for Banteer. Final score Banteer 3-13 Blarney 2-2.
