The Duhallow U 14 Premier 1 hurling Team who defeated  Midelton in the championship final on Saturday.Well done to the following Lyre and Banteer players who played with Duhallow: Martin Mcsweeney, Luke Philpott,Callum O' Shaughnessy,Alan Coughlan,Shane Mcauliffe and Caine Kiely.
The significance of this victory should not be under estimated, especially if you were to look at the other teams who competed at the level. Teams like Mallow, Na PIarsaigh, Douglas, Blackrock are teams with a rich heritage who would be looking to this generation to carry on this tradition and for this team to step up and win the competition is something our wider community should be proud of.
Mention must also go out to Pat O' Shaughnessy who was a member of the coaching team who works tirelessly in the promotion of Gaelic games in our own parish as well as in the wider Barony.

Midleton and Duhallow clashed in the Carrigaline Court Hotel sponsored Premier 1 Fe14 Hurling Championship final on Saturday evening. A wet Paric Ui Rinn played host to an exceptional game of hurling between the sides, as both teams put on one of the finest games of hurling that will be seen this season.

Both teams exchanged goals and points in the opening quarter, before scores were harder to come by in the second quarter of the game.

At the break Duhallow lead 2-8 to 2-6 at the break.

The second half was a close affair as the rain fell in Paric Ui Rinn, both teams fought it out for the all-important score they need to win. Both teams once again exchanged points as the clock slow counted down.

The final 10 minutes were tense for both teams. Midleton brought the game back to just a point between the sides. The clock counted down as both sides held each other at bay. Duhallow got the break they needed when they raised two green flags in the closing few minutes. With the goals came the title on a score of Duhallow 4-9, Midleton 3-6.
