A great night last night for the boys when they completed the double. The hurling league title was taken a couple of weeks ago with a comprehensive win over Killavullen and the football league title was added to the haul last night with a win over Castletownroche under lights in Ballyhooly. This one was never really in doubt as it was pretty clear from an early stage that the Banteer boys were that bit better than their opponents. Captain Kyle O Connor and Calum Shaughnessy were dominant in midfield and with solid defending from Pierce, Brandon and Byron it really set up the team to drive forward and build an early lead. Jack Mulcahy was inspirational on the night between the posts as he pulled off some excellent saves both sides of half time. The substitutes on the night all played a part and all the boys are worthy of the double title as they have trained hard all year and are now reaping the rewards of that commitment. Well done to ye all.
Many of these boys will play in an U13 hurling final on Sunday and it would really be an incredible achievement by all concerned should they win that as well, with the u14 Hurlers waiting to play another semifinal. The future is bright.
