Another good weekend for our hurlers as we had two very good wins. On Saturday last the U15 Hurlers had a comprehensive win over Clyda Rovers in their Championship match. As you know Saturdays weather was abysmal but the boys should be congratulated as their was a great demonstration of their skill on the day despite the rain.
Then on Sunday their was another great day out for the U14 Brigade of Hurlers as they defeated St Marks in Meelin. The game itself was delayed for over an hour and a half as both teams awaited the arrival of the official but once the game started the Banteer boys hit the ground running and fought for every single ball. A couple of positional switches worked a treat. Cal Shine moved to full back and for me was hugely instrumental in the win as he was rock solid on the day. This switch allowed Luke Philpott switch to full forward and Luke had a great game here with a couple of goals as well as providing a focal point for the rest of the forwards to work off.
The result is another final for the U14 Hurlers next Sunday against Ballygiblin, the team that defeated the boys in the Championship final. However I think the lads can be confident going into the match as they are a different, and in my opinion, a better team going into this one
