The U14 Hurlers had built up a bit of momentum going into the game with an undefeated record under their belts and they were not to disappoint in this one either. As we know Charleville will always have a strong hurling team no matter the age group and thus had to be taken seriously. it became very clear from the first throw how seriously the Banteer boys took this challenge because every ball was contested from the off and the rewards were ample with some fine scores taken early on. The forward line of Kyle, Ross and Cane caused all sorts of problem for the back line and a couple of early goals were their reward for all their hard work. The backs were not to be outdone on the night and stuck tenaciously to their task, especially in the second half when the pressure came on them big time and their commitment could be seen when Evan through himself in front of a shot and as usual Luke was rock solid. All the boys must be congratulated too for their composure on the night and their reward was a 4:11 to 2:7 victory. Their record now stands at three wins and a draw with a tough test against Ballygiblin on the horizon.
On Monday the 5th of May the team continued on their journey of success with a good win over Ballyigblin in very wet and windy conditions. The team led from the start and despite some pressure in the first ten minutes of the second half the team held their nerve to come through on a scoreline of 4:13 to 3:12. This was a real team effort with all shoulders to the wheel but special mention goes to Martin who was tasked with keeping an eye on the Ballygiblin star player and Martin stuck tenaciously with this task. This now sets up the team for a top of the table clash with locals Cu Culainns. Best of luck to the boys in this one.
