Banteer Advance to Quarter Final

Banteer 2-12 Freemount 0-07
Banteer knocked Freemount out of this years JAHC, a game played in what could only be described as testing conditions in Lismire. The game last Saturday evening was the end of the road for one of the teams. It was Banteer whom started far brighter with 2 goals on the board within 15 minutes, this ensured control of proceedings. Jamie Sexton netted the first getting on to a lose ball, while Kevin Tarrant showed great strength to grab the second.
Freemount had some progress up front but the 2 goal cushion would prove too much in the conditions. At the short whistle Banteer lead 2-3 to 0-03.
On the resumption Freemount could only ever get the gap down to 5 points, strong defending from Conor O Keeffe, and Denis Mannix proved too much to break down while Teddy Fitzgerald got through lots of work in the middle of the field. Banteer found a little bit of a grove as fine points from Denis Roche, David Murphy and Patrick Buckley stretched the lead and end the game as a tie.
Banteer face Millstreet in a quarter final, next weekend with fixture details to follow.
