Banteer Battle Hard

posted 22 Jul 2013, 10:52 by Unknown user

Banteer faced an all or nothing task when they took on Tullylease in Round 2 of the JAHC. Played in Kanturk, in perfect conditions, Tullylease started brightest. A goal at either end of the half ensured they would go in at the break leading by two points. Scores from Banteer came via David Murphy, David McAulliffe and 2 excellent points from Denis Roche ensured Banteer remained in touching distance at the break.

On the resumption Banteer started well, with 3 points in ten minutes, but unfortunately coughed up 2 points at the other end. The game really picked up intensity levels heading down the stretch, Brendan Weathers drew Banteer level on 58 minutes and then scored another point to push them ahead a minute later. Excellent defending by Kevin Tarrant ensured that Banteer were afforded this chance. Banteer could see the finish line in sight, points from Roche and Murphy steered the ship home. A hard fought victory, after a fair performance, finished powerfully.
