posted 6 Apr 2014, 13:51 by BanteerLyre GAA

Banteer played their first game of this year’s JAHL at home to Lismire on Sunday. Banteer opened well and led the game all the way through. Denis Roche got a goal after 10 minutes to set Banteer on their way, this was complemented by some fine David Murphy and Patrick O’ Keeffe points.  At the back Teddy Fitzgerald and Kevin Tarrant were playing well to keep Lismire at bay. The half time score read 1-10 to 0-04. On the resumption it was another goal that killed of the game, this time it came from Jamie Sexton after he controlled the sliotar beautifully and struck to put the game beyond the opposition. Brendan Weathers also netted as did Eamon O’ Flynn right at the end.  A fine from Christopher Twohig and some strong defending from Richard O Connor were some other plays to note of the second half. 4-20 to 0-07 was the final score.
