Banteer work hard for victory

Banteer opened their JAHL campaign with a victory on Monday last with a victory over Newmarket in Newmarket. In a closely fought game, Banteer did just about enough to get the victory.

Banteer recovered from a bad start to leave the score at the short of Banteer 0-10 Newmarket 1-05. Dan Dennehy and Teddy Fitzgerald holding up the opposition attack to make sure it wasn’t more successful. Up front for Banteer Denis Roche, Sean Twomey and Tim Murphy raising the white flag for Banteer.

In the second half, the game grew more into a battle and scores were hard to come by, Richard O Connor and Jamie Sexton stepping up to the plate. Newmarket came hard but Kevin Tarrant and Sean Twomey used all their experience to win vital possession when the game was up for decision. Banteer hung on, 0-16 to 1-12.
