Lyre v Kilbrin was the only game played this weekend due to weather and unplayable pitches. Banteer pitch stood the weather and played host to Kilbrin.

Lyre were the first team to get off the mark with a point from Martin Kearney. Both teams were using the give and go technique due to the strong wind which was unpredictable. It was a closely contested first half with no team dominating. Points from Martin Kearney, Kevin Tarrant, Denis Roche, David Murphy and Timmie Murphy made sure that Lyre were on top as the first half came to an end.

End of first half: Lyre 0-07

  Kilbrin 0-05

Lyre got off to a great start in the second half with a quick goal from Denis Roche and from then on Lyre didn't give Kilbrin a chance to get into the game. Lyre dominated midfield with Kevin Tarrant adding another two points to his tally. Kilbrin backs had no answer to the Lyre attacks and David Murphy scored a beautiful goal as Kilbrin looked around wondering how it happened. Lyre had a few more goal chances with Brendan Weathers and Cathal McHugh just missing out. Kilbrin could only get one point in the second half which was due to the Lyre midfield dominance and close marking from the Lyre defence. Lyre just kept on adding to the scoreline which resulted in a great win and a great start to Lyre's campaign.

Final Result: Lyre 2-15

        Kilbrin 0-06
