Lyre v Knocknagree

A spot in the final was up for grabs and it was for whoever wanted it more. Knocknagree had already beaten Lyre in the league but Lyre was determined to get some revenge.

Lyre started the strongest with David Murphy scoring 3 points in the opening ten minutes but Knocknagree came back with 4 points of their own, 3 coming from a placed ball. David Murphy found the back of the net in the 20th minute to put Lyre back in front. It was point for point coming into half time before Knocknagree gave a penalty on the cusp of half time. It was that man again; David Murphy found the back of the net. This gave Lyre a 2-05 to 0-05 lead at the half.

Knocknagree came out of half time with a point to prove and with some tough calls and poor tackling from Lyre, Knocknagree were back in it scoring 5 points but Lyre did not panic. Excellent defending and forwards who were easily beating the opposition meant Lyre had pulled away again. Knocknagree just couldn’t handle Lyre and at fulltime it is Lyre who is going to the league final facing Boherbue this Sunday the 3rd of July in Cullen at 4:45pm.

Fulltime: Lyre 2-12; Knocknagree 0-12
