Junior A Football Championship Round 1

For many of the Lyre team this was the second time meeting Kilbrin in championship, only this time it was the big ball.

Kilbrin came out all guns blazing scoring three unanswered points. Lyre seemed to panic in defence and attack which played right into Kilbrin’s hands. Lyre struggled to put the ball over the bar, the first coming from David Murphy and another from Conor O’Keeffe soon followed. As Kilbrin knocked over there fourth point, Lyre still struggled to get the scores hitting many wides in the first. Denis Roche levelled things up going into half time.

Halftime Lyre 0-04; Kilbrin 0-04

Lyre came out a different team in the second half, more organised and more clinical with their shooting. David Murphy added to his tally adding another two points to the Lyre scoreboard. It was one way traffic in the second half with Lyre dominating. More points from David Murphy, Jamie Sexton and Damien Kearney secured the win for Lyre. It finished Lyre 0-13; Kilbrin 0-05.
