Kilbrin travelled to Banteer to kick off the Junior A Hurling League for another year. And indeed it was the visitors that started the brighter, racing into a 0-09 to 0-06 early lead. For the home side scores were hard to come by with Denis Roche notching up 5 of the first 6 points for Banteer. Damien Kearney also found the target before Roche again, the sides went in 0-10 to 0-08 at the short whistle, in a good spirited first half but did lack a spark.

On the resumption the intensity lifted a few notches and Kilbrin found themselves in a commanding lead when a converted penalty was followed by another goal, they lead 2-12 to 0-12 Banteer battled well got the fruits of their efforts when Denis Roche reacted quickest to skilfully get Banteer back into it. This followed by a quick point, Banteer now trailed 2-12 to 1-13. Kilbrin once again stretched their lead but a long free found its way to the Kilbrin net which meant Banteer were only 3 points down once more. In a frantic finish, this was the way it would end, Banteer with some work to do but can be happy with their efforts over the hour. 2-18 to 2-15 the final score.
