Banteer overcame Meelin in the league stages of the JBHL to book a place in the last 4 against Kilbrin. Banteer started very well with 2 goals in the first half really setting out the intent for the day, helped by excellent defending at the back from Conor O Keeffe, while Connie Tarrant in goal was equally assured. A long Patrick O Keeffe free found its way to the net, and Colin Philpot followed suit later in the half to bag a goal of his own. Patrick also got points during the hour to keep the scoreboard ticking over. Banteer led at the break, 2-07 to 0-08.

Derry Long who had an excellent first half, continued this vein of form right through to the second half as he dominated the play in his area of the field. Kevin Barry in the half forward line put in a sterling performance and got a fine point in the second half for his efforts. Patrick Buckley also added to the scoreboard to ensure Banteer would always have the lead right to the end. A good performance and a positive result. Banteer 2-14 Meelin 0-15
