Ducon Cup
Lyre v Boherbue

The final league for Lyre and it was a game that was a must win to qualify for the semi finals. It turned out to be a battle of free takers with 12 of the 16 points coming from frees.

Lyre started well with great defending and accurate passing leading to the opening score coming from Brian O'Driscoll after 2 minutes. Boherbue won a free in the 6th minute which was converted. Two minutes later Boherbue converted another free, they got their first score from play in the 12th minute. Three frees in 3 minutes, one for Lyre in the 22nd minute coming from Brian O'Driscoll and two for Boherbue in the 21st and 24th minute. Lyre converted one more free before halftime, again coming from Brian O'Driscoll.

Halftime: Lyre 0-03; Boherbue 0-05

Boherbue were quick off the mark converting two more frees within 4 minutes of the second half. A massive free for Lyre coming from Kevin Roche and two more from Brian O'Driscoll meant Lyre were one point behind. Boherbue put their last score on the scoreboard in the 50th minute and Lyre needed three points to get the win. Kevin Tarrant was able to bring it back to one and with a late free for Brian O'Driscoll meant it was level, unfortunately Lyre were unable to put another score on the board and it ended in a draw meaning Lyre were out and Boherbue were into the semi finals.

Full-time: Lyre 0-08; Boherbue 0-08
