Lyre Come Up Short against Knocknagree

posted 21 Mar 2016, 10:35 by BanteerLyre GAA
Knocknagree 1-13    Lyre 0-10
As the ball was thrown in, Knocknagree made their intentions clear with a long range goal to start things off. They had all the ball and they added two more points to the scoreboard before Lyre opened their account with Timmie Murphy slotting one over. Knocknagree had all the possession, they were 1-4 up before Lyre got their second. Even with all the possession Knocknagree had, they couldn’t put much daylight between Lyre. Scores from Damien and Martin Kearney and Kevin Tarrant meant that early goal was the only thing standing between the two teams going in at half time.
Knocknagree1-04 to 0-04 at the half.

Lyre brought things level early in the second half with 3 consecutive points from Timmie Murphy, Damien and Martin Kearney. It was score for score for a while but Knocknagree started to pull a head. Scores from Denis Roche kept Lyre in contention but as Knocknagree pulled ahead Lyre were fighting hard to get a goal as the Knock goal line was bombarded with high balls and low shots but couldn’t find that goal to bring things closer. It finished up Knocknagree 1-13 to 0-10.
