Second league game of the year for both teams and both wanted to get their first win of the year.

Lyre started well with 2 points coming from Jack Roche and Brian O'Driscoll. Kilbrin responded a few minutes later with a point, but that's when Lyre took charge scoring 7 points on the trot. Scores coming from Timmie Murphy(2), Brian O'Driscoll(2), Damien Kearney, Stephen Mannix and Fergus Murphy. Kilbrin added their second point in the 24th minute. Even with the wind, Kilbrin struggled getting ball to the forwards with the Lyre defence cutting out every opportunity they got. Just before half-time Brian O'Driscoll added 2 more points to his tally, one of them being a free. Lyre were able to intercept a Kilbrin attack and worked the ball up the field and with a high ball into the square Cathal McHugh was able to fist it down into the net.

 Halftime: Lyre 1-11; Kilbrin 0-02

Kilbrin got the first point of the second half but it was also their last point, after that Lyre dominated the game. Brian O'Driscoll had his shooting boots adding another 2 points to his tally. Tim Murphy, Barry Murphy, Paudi Ryan and Kevin Roche all came on, hoping to add a few points themselves. James Twohig made a run up the field hoping to get his name on the scoring sheet which he did in the 45th minute. Barry Murphy was also able to convert and before the whistle blew Brian O'Driscoll added another 2 points to his impressive tally of 9 points, only 2 coming from frees.
