Lyre start in positive mood

Lyre 2 08 Kilbrin 1 06 Lyre won their opening football league game in Banteer against Kilbrin last Sunday. Lyre got off to a slow start, falling 1-1 to no score behind after ten minutes. Kevin Roche got Lyre on the scoreboard with a well taken point before also finding the net to level the score. Kilbrin had the next score before Lyre finished the half strongly, with points to Timmie Murphy (2) and David Murphy putting Lyre 1 04 to 1 02 ahead at the half time break.

Lyre started the 2nd half brightly with points to Brian O Keeffe and Kevin Tarrant extending Lyre's advantage to 4 points midway through the 2nd half. Kilbrin responded to narrow the gap but a Cathal McHugh goal put daylight between the sides again with time running out. Further points to David and Tim Murphy saw the home side run out comfortable winners
