No Joy for Banteer

posted 15 Jun 2015, 11:25 by BanteerLyre GAA
Banteer and Kilbrin met in LIsmire in the final of the JAHL on Friday evening last. Having played out a draw earlier in the campaign the match was expected to be a close encounter. For long stages this was the case but a Kilbrin goal midway through the second half put the game to bed. The first half saw some good passages of play from both sides with Brendan Weathers, Richard O Connor, Tadghy Sexton all stamping an impression on the game. At half time Kilbrin lead, by 4, 0-11 points to 0-07. The second half continued to be played at a high tempo and a fine Teddy Fitzgerald point gave Banteer the momentum. For a short while it looked as if Banteer could challenge Kilbrin for the honours, but this was not to materialise and a goal for Kilbrin put the game beyond Banteer. Banteer will be disappointed with the margin of the defeat after the hour, evidently a lot of improvement required if they are to overcome Millstreet in the first round of the JAHC played at the end of this month.
